The SBU campus is the perfect playground, whether you're a fitness fanatic who works out daily, a weekend warrior, or someone who just enjoys an occasional walk along the river.
Sandra A. and William L. Richter Center
The Richter Center is our state-of-the-art fitness and recreation center located in the heart of campus, an easy walk from any residence hall.
It houses three full-size basketball courts, one with a multi-purpose floor; an elevated walking/running track; racquetball courts; a huge weight room; cardiovascular equipment; and much more.
The Richter is also the home of the university's Center for Activities, Recreation and Leadership.

Tom '80 & Michelle Marra Athletics Fields Complex
The Tom '80 and Michelle Marra Athletics Fields complex serves as the home field for St. Bonaventure's Division I soccer, lacrosse, rugby, softball and baseball teams. The complex hosts some club sports contests as well.
The complex is dedicated to Tom Marra, ’80, and his wife, Michelle, whose $1 million donation jump-started the campaign to renovate the grounds.
In addition to the central, multipurpose soccer/lacrosse/rugby field, which has spectator seating and lighting for nighttime play, the complex includes Joyce Field, which is a modern, turf softball facility; and Joyce Field at Fred Handler Park, home of the Bonnies A-10 baseball team.
Bob Lanier Court in Reilly Center Arena
Legendary NCAA basketball coach and broadcaster Dick Vitale has described the RC Arena as "one of the great home court advantages in college basketball... The place is always rockin' and rollin.'"
Bob Lanier Court, named for the NBA star and Basketball Hall of Fame member who led SBU to the NCAA Final Four in 1970, is home to our Division I men's and women's basketball teams, both members of the Atlantic 10 Conference.
There's no more exciting place to be on game day than in the courtside student section of the RC, cheering on the Bonnies as a member of the Reilly Center Rowdies.
Allegheny River Valley Trail
The Allegheny River Valley Trail is a 5.6-mile, 10-feet-wide asphalt loop that wends through the town of Allegany as well as the town and city of Olean, including a long scenic stretch along the Allegheny River behind the St. Bonaventure campus.
A secondary "Bonaventure loop" brings the trail onto campus, providing access to a public restroom and "warming hut" facility. The Bona loop runs across the front of campus before reconnecting with the main trail.
The widely used trail is popular among walkers, hikers, runners, bike riders, roller bladers and other recreation and fitness buffs. Motorized vehicles are not permitted on the trail.

St. Bonaventure Golf Course
Located right across the road from campus, the St. Bonaventure Golf Course is a hilly, scenic and immaculately maintained 9-hole public course popular with golfers from across the region.
The course is open seven days a week through the spring, summer and fall, and motorized carts are available. Best of all, SBU students can play a round (9 or 18 holes) for a discounted rate .
The course has two of the most challenging holes in the region: No. 7, a par four with a 90-degree dogleg, demanding a perfect drive to the turn followed by a long precision second shot to a small green near the top of a steep hill; and No. 9, a long par 3 that requires a straight mid- to long-iron tee shot if you hope to make par.
Reilly Center swimming pool
The Reilly Center pool is home to the university's Atlantic 10 Conference men's and women's swimming and diving teams.
The pool is adjacent to Bob Lanier Court in the RC, and right next to the RC Cafe. One wall in the cafe is a series of floor-to-ceiling windows looking down onto the pool area.
The pool is available to students and other members of the campus community during open swim sessions held during the week.
Hockey & skating at Olean's Smith Recreation Center
Ice skating is available from September through March of each year at the regulation ice arena in the William O. Smith Recreation Center in Olean, about a 10-minute drive from campus. The rink is the home of SBU's men's club hockey team.
The center is located in Olean's War Veterans Park at the corner of East State and Front streets, across from Bradner Stadium.
There is plenty of onsite parking and permanent bleacher seating at the rink can accommodate about 575 spectators.
The rink hosts public skating hours, and skate rental and sharpening are available.
Outdoor tennis courts
Six hard-surface outdoor tennis courts are located at the far west side of campus, adjacent to student and visitor parking lots and one of several public access points for the Allegheny River Valley Trail.
The courts are the fair-weather home of the Bonnies men's and women's Division 1 tennis teams, and are also used for instruction in School of Education physical education classes.
The courts are open to all students, with plenty of playing time available.
Skiing at nearby Holiday Valley
Holiday Valley, a four-season resort in Ellicottville, N.Y., about a 25-minute drive from campus, is best known for its downhill skiing. Ski Magazine readers ranked it 10th best in the East and No. 2 in New York for 2020. Holiday Valley gets high praise for its extensive lift system and family friendliness.
And when skiers leave the hills, they head for "charming, beautiful" downtown Ellicottville, "absolutely one of the best après towns anywhere," said Ski Magazine.
"The Valley" operates 13 lifts, including three high-speed quad chairs, that service 58 day trails and 37 night trails. There are also trails for cross country skiing and a snow tubing area.
Holiday Valley also operates the Sky High Aerial Park and Climbing Forest, featuring tree-top platforms and zip lines, as well as a Mountain Coaster ride that operates year round
