The university offers a range of special programs, many of which offer significant aid packages based on either need, academic achievement or service.


Honors Program


Student with backpack The SBU Honors Program is designed for the highest achieving students to provide a unique experience that enriches their undergraduate experience, both academically and in student life.

Our singular goal is to provide enhanced education to excellent students and help transform them into truly extraordinary scholars and people.

Those who fulfill all program requirements graduate with an honors degree.

 



Early Assurance Programs


Graduate adjusting her capHigh-achieving students have the opportunity to receive early acceptance to a graduate-level or professional program through one our early assurance programs.

In some cases, students may apply for early assurance as incoming freshmen. In others, they may apply in their sophomore year of college.

Some EAP programs may accelerate the traditional time frame for earning both undergraduate and graduate degrees.



Access Programs | HEOP

Eve Higher Education Opportunity Program are comprehensive programs that contribute resources and a support system for students in academic and financial need.

These special programs are designed for students who have the potential for and interest in furthering their education, but who have special academic and financial needs.



Individualized Major Program


Smiling female studentOur Individualized Major Program offers self-motivated students the opportunity to explore their unique and varied interests by designing an individual program of study instead of pursuing a traditional departmental major.

The plan of study is either comprised of three academic minors, or individualized with courses chosen from across the university.

Throughout your self-designed academic journey, you will have a team of professors lending their support and guidance.



High School Dual Enrollment Programs

It's an opportunity for high school students to not only gain knowledge and understanding in critical fields in the arts and sciences, but to get an early start in acquiring the credits required to earn a college degree.

Army Reserve Officers' Training Corps
